Bury Cooperative Society building Market St

Post  venuskye on Wed Apr 07, 2010 2:03 am

I am interested in the history of the Kay Garden area and in particular what was once the Bury & District Cooperative buildings which now of course contains several retail outlets. I would like to find out whether there is any history of hauntings, ghosts etc. Many thanks

Dont know about any ghosts but my abiding memory about the co-op was going down there in 1978 all the way from Rammy with my very first pay packet (15) from stockton bros and buying an adjustable spanner for my moped!!!
Still haunts me now.

I've heard stories of the Art Picture house, on Haymarket street, across from Kay Gardens/bus station, being haunted. I read in the the Bury Times a few years since that a 'ghost hunt' happened there too.

My grandfather used to work at the Co-op on market street in the 1970s, unfortunately he's in a better place these days, but my grandmother is still with us and I could certainly ask some questions when I see her next.

Thanks
